The new covered pavilion is connected to an open patio space that includes two existing water features which both needed revitalization. The paving stones from the existing patio were repurposed, utilizing a more contemporary pattern. The front of the house and arrival experience were altered as well: we removed the existing rotten wooden timber steps and raised planter boxes and replaced them with Corten steel panels; the old asphalt arrival court was replaced with exposed aggregate concrete; and the dilapidated wooden steps to the front landing were replaced with quartzite stone slabs.
